I know we all have a penchant for alloy rims or steelies here, but lets take it on a different path. In my hunt for a base model German market W124 wagon I keep seeing these caps, and I think they are super. So what is Oppo's favorite hubcap out there?
the M System 2 caps count too

Hubcaps are for tossers and sheep shaggers.

If it's made of steel I'm ok with it. Anything plastic should be thrown away.

yes, those do just fine

For anything close to modern, I kind of like these.
Less modern, maybe this:

I always liked the Mark IV pie plate covers. Kinda hard to find since most people went with wires. They're so simple, but perfect for the big coupe.

I've always liked some of the 70s-80s era GM truck ones:

If I have to have hubcaps they better be these:
for some reason, my car came with 7 of them. I have no idea why.

57 Corvette
1967 Chevy Car base cap, used on Novas, Camaro's, and Chevelles
1968 - 1969 Chevy Dog Dish, used on Camaro, Chevelle and Nova. 68 was cap only and in 69 you got the cap and a trim ring(unless a COPO car)
1965-1967 Chevy optional mag wheel covers. Std cap on SS 396 chevelles in 66-67

Gotta say it before Chuck has a chance...
I also really love the old Beetle hubcaps (photo cred: me)
M Systems are pretty high up on that list, too.

Volkswagen.
No further words needed, they're simply the best hubcaps.

Comets were quite swanky a couple of years.

No way! I almost got a 2000cs before I found the 2002. It was my buddy's dad's car that had only been driven to church and for the last 30 years or something like that. Unfortunately it was a little out of budget. I still wish I picked it up. I haven't seen one in person since.

I prefer anything that has the Mercury "God Head" Logo in it.
(mild obsession)

Yessir. It was silver, very much like the first GIS result that comes up. I like the headlights, too. They're very sleek and have kind of a judgmental expression to them. I'm a fan.

The ones my Firebird originally came with
They were never on the car when I owned it, it wasn't until later that I was in my grandma's garage and saw them up in the rafters. I wanted to have them but my uncle (who sold me the car years before since it belonged to his wife, my aunt) wanted to keep them for some dumb reason.

wow love those!

Because hubcaps on older cars back then tended to go missing after small impacts with potholes. Lots of the older guys kept a few spares just in case.

Well, it was owned by an old lady.
I actually did a wild burn out on the way home from Woodward my first year with the car and one popped off and rolled down the street, across 3 lanes of traffic and landed on the far side. I went back and retrieved it.

My step dad lost a cap when we blew a tire on a deserted two lane road in northern WI in our Malibu wagon..... he sent me looking down both sides of the road in the forest to find it. Never did. He took the other three off and just said "Fuck it".

I still plan on buying one from eBay and making a clock out of it. In fact... BRB

hahahaha.
Well if I had lost it, I certainly had backups.
But they sell for anywhere between 30-60 bucks a pop so I'm not leaving one behind.

I saw a sweet bone stock 535is last night being driven by some random middle aged lady. Dark blue metallic with grey leather. I wanted to run after her with money
![]() 10/17/2014 at 15:42 |

I love that blue color. I had a red 535is and later an '88 M5. Never should have sold either.

This 1966 OEM Ford Mustang Hubcap
Its hanging on my wall, I got it for 7 bucks

Bad picture but I have two different size wheel caps on my '60 because staggered.

For whatever reason, I always get "image upload error", but I love those old Mercedes caps with the center section painted the body color. Most W123s had them, very classy.

Any that make something large and American look like a cop car
Or VW ones

I love hubcaps.
I tend to like rims and hubcaps like these, instead of huge wheels with massive gaps between the spokes.
